JOHNSONVILLE
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The funeral of Mrs Pickin’s son, aged 24, took place on Sunday last. As this lady spent many year- in the district, where she is well known and much respected, many friends attended the funeral.
The weather during the past week has been very severe with rain and occasional frosts, which .have cut off the green pasture, making feed for stock scarce. Mr C. C. Walkrow, who recently came to live in this township, is to be the recipient of a presentation of a marble clock and an entertainment by the residents of Ohariu, where Mr Walkrow made himself very useful to the community. He was Chairman of the -School Committee, and doing all in his power to promote the well-being of that district during the past 20 years. Mr Stephen Bryant is to make the presentation at the social in the Ohariu schoolroom on the 24th inst. - June 23rd.
