Mr M. Caselberg, of Tare, whilst riding round his farm the other day, had the misfortune to meet with a serious acci dent through being thrown -* f rom his horse. Mr Caselberg had his d. slocated and sustained concussion of the brain, but it now progressing favourably towards recovery. ‘ At a special meeting of the Pahiatua Athletic Club it was decided to tender a complimentary social to the ladies’ committee and all those ladies who contributed so materially towards making the Club’s recent sports meeting the success it was.

A concert g’iven in the Olympic Theatre on the 20th inst. by a number of local amateurs in aid of the school firewood fund proved a great su’ccess, and a sum of .£l2 was realised thereby. The Rev. J. McCaw, of Pahiatua, has been requested by a number of School Committees to allow himself to be nominated for a seat on the Wellington Education Board, but up to tfle time of writing ne has not announced his decision. At the local fe'.M. Court on the 21st inst., Mrs C. Morris obtained .£SO damages from one Keith, a cab proprietor, in respect of injuries sustained by her through being run over by defendant’s cab, which he had left unattended on the Pahiatua racecourse in January last. The Commercial Hotel stables, formerly conducted by Messrs Smith and Taylor, have changed hands, and are now being carried on by Mr M. T'aylor.
