WOODVILLE TENNIS BALL

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual ball of the Tennis Glub was held in tbe Alexandra Hall on sriiday night. The hall was very prettily decorated. The walls and doorways, festooned with red, white and blue, autumn leaves, reeds, and tennis racquets, completed a most unique style ot decoration. The supper table, which was laid on the stage, was most beautifully arranged A number of fairy lamps of different colours lent a very pretty eifect to the artistically arranged vases of yellow chrysanthemums and green leaves, which were interspersed with tall candles. The dishes were mapy nnd tempting. The music was supplied by Miss Davies and extras were played by Misses Gray, Somerville, Brook-Taylor, Mrs Lloyd and Air Marryatt. The "cakewalk” Lancers created great fun. There was quite an abundance of gentlemen and the girls all voted it the best of all the Tennis balls. Air Aladill, the hon. sec is to be warmly congratulated upon the success of the whole affair. Great credit is also due to Mr and Miss Grant and Aliss Marryatt fo-r the enjoyableness of tbe evening. They were most indefatigable in their attentions to visitors. The dresses were mostly new and presented a most charming scene, ine roilowing is a description of the dresses:

Miss Driscoll, pink silk with blue chiffon. Miss Gray, pale blue accord eon-pleat-ed silk. Miss Harvey, handsome yellow satin trimmed with black. Miss Bolton, white voile trimmed with silk embroidery. Miss Westoby, white silk relieved with red velvet. Miss Gregory, pale blue silk. Miss Faulknor (Pahiatua), a pretty frock of royal blue corded silk with chiffon lace over skirt. Miss Warren (Konini), blue satin. Her sister in white satin. Miss Brooke-Ta.ylor (Kumeroa), black velvet. Miss Violet Dobbie, white silk with scarlet flowers. Miss Brosnaham, white silk. Miss Probert, a lovely frock of white silk, very full blouse and skirt, swathe belt, medallion applique, ’butteflly bow in hair. ' Miss D'avies, red brocade. Miss Dickens, white crepe de chine. Mrs Lloyd (Konini), pale green brocade. Mrs Grant, handsome black satin trimmed with jet. Airs Davis (Otago), black silk and lace. Mrs R. IT. Rhodes, black silk trimmed with string coloured medallions. Airs J. it. Harris, a lovely black silk trimmed with silk chiffon and turquoise blue velvet. Mrs Brosnaham, pale blue silk blouse, black skirt-. " Airs Dobbie, black silk. Airs Veaie, black silk. Airs Lindauer, black and white costume. Mrs D'avies, black silk. Airs Bowden, black nierveilleux trammed with jet. Airs Eccles, black silk. Among the gentlemen present were Messrs Arrow, Bolton, Wright, Eager, AlcNiell, Lloyd, McGowan. Clarke, Grey, Wilson. D’obbio, Grant, Rhodes, Bowden, Nelson, Ivladill, Marryatt, Veaie, Robertshawe, Monteith, Davies, Stubbs and tuckers.
