AHAURA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday evening, 6th May, the Ahanra Tennis Club held its first sioeial of th© season, and in every respect it was an unqualified success. Visitors were present from all parts of the district. The music was supplied by Miss McGillicuddy, of Reefton, and Mr Haines ably officiated as MX). The members s>f the Club are to be congratulated upon the excellence of the social.

The members of the Trinity Church Choir intend holding a sacred concert at an early date, and the constant practices and keen interest shown will no doubt result in a treat for the Ahaura people. A good example of the great interest taken by the Ahaura school boys in the cadet movement is afforded by the young cadets. There boys have been for a considerable time working at a rifle range, and have at last got everything completed, doing it all themselves, building the marker’s hut. and making the mounds and targets. They are consequently proud of their work. The crew of the Moonlight dredge presented Mr Russell, dredgemaster, with a pair of field glasses, as he has resigned his position and he, his wife, and family are proceeding to South Africa, where he has received an appointment from the Government.
