EKETAHUNA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the last meeting of our County Council the following resolution wa-. unanimously carried:—“That the Eketahuna County Council do not approve, from this date, of any scheme for opening of any new roads in the immediate vicinity of the townships of Eketahuna or Parkville, whether the same be by loan or by private individuals, unless the formation of said roads be made to full width.” The Druids held a meeting on the night of the lGth inst. in the Oddfellows’ Hall ; the attendance was large. Two new members were initiated. After the business of tlie ledge was over, the members, with their wives and friends, who made a strong muster, assembled in the lodge room and spent a most enjoyable time up to midnight. Dancing and singing were indulged in. The refreshments supplied were choice and plentiful, and the whole proceedings were most successful. Everyone seemed highly pleased at spending such a social eveningLast Thursday the Eketahuna football club played the Masterton Albions. Evidently at the present time those teams are evenly matched; each team did its best, but couldn’t score, the game winding up as a matter of course m a draw. On Thursday evening the Sunday school, children assembled with tlieir friends at the Wesleyan Church for tho purpose of being presented with tlieir prizes. Tlie little ones, were happy and sang’ very nicely - several pieces. Through the generosity cf a business firm, tlie W.F.G.A., we are in possession of a firebell, which is mounted in close proximity to our flag staff in tlie centre of the town. Questions to be‘answered: Where is our fire brigade? Where is the water supply? Where is the engine?
