AMBITION VERSUS LOVE

Someone has just said that love is “the murderer of ambition,” and another questions whether the fruits of ambition are not qnite without sweetness if love has not been gained; In some cases it lias seemed that love has led a man into a, lotus land of sweetness. where his dreams of ambition have faded away, but in othe- cases it is love and love alone that has spurred many a man on to ambitious he would never have thought of; it has roused him from the lethargy into which he was fast ingIn peace, Love tunes the shepherd’s rood * In war he mounts the warrior’s steed.
