UPPER HUTT
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
At the last meeting of the Hutt Counity Council, the'Councils engineer, who-is also Inspector of Nuisances, presented a report which has set tonguek wagging in the township. The report, which has already been published, is considered by these who are competent to judge to be fair and 'unprejudiced. It its to be hoped that those persons who have been served with notices will at once make an effort to sweeten their premises. Bluejackets from the man-of-war in harbour are at present in camp at Trenitham. Rifle shooting is being assiduously practised, and although “Jack” is sup poised to be more at borne on sea than on land, good scores are being put up. A short time' ago detachments from two men-of-war were out fotr some weeks. By their general behaviour, both in and put of camp, they proved first-rate fellows. and they departed with an excellent record. We trust the men here at present will keep up the reputation left by their comrades in arms.
