KAIKORA NORTH

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A bazaar, organised in aid of the special efforts in association with the parish of IVaipawa-Xaikora, was held in the Recliabite Hall, Kaikora, last'Wednesday afternoon and evening. The Vicar declared the sale open, and very good business was done during the progress. The attendance of the purchasing public was numerous. and the net financial result will be about £25. The stall-holders were Mrs G. A. Dillon and Miss Dillon (fancy goi>ds stall), the Misses Hicks, Clark and Small (.confectionery stall) Misses Pay and Sinclair (produce stall). Miss Mundell presided over a bran tub, and Mesdames Asplet. Porter, and Meadows were hostesses in the refreshment department. The donations to the bazaar included a cart load of vegetables from the natives at Patanf;ata. A fine sheep, giVen by Mr A. G>l- - was the subject of a weight-guessing competition, and it was won by Mrs A. Mudgway, senr., who named the exact weight, 80lbs. Mr R. White, hazarded 80|lbs., and was placed second. A hattrimming competition for men was very interesting and amusing; th judges were Mrs Tod and Miss White, and they awarded the prize, donated by Miss Dillon, to Mr W. HcQuilkan. A promenade concert was held in the evening, those contributing to the programme being: The Misses Aley, Mundell, Evans. Moffatt, Pay, Westmoreland and Small, and Mr D. Mundell. The committee of management deserve a meed of praise for the very satisfactory and complete arrangements made..
