Lomas, at 2.30 p.m. May 18th—Ormondville v. Waipawa. at Ormondville, referee, J. Bailey, at 2.30 p.m.; Waipukurau v. Pohukura, at Waipawa, referee, H. Gebbie, at 2.30 p.m. May, 25'ch —Pohukura v. Ormondville, at "Ormondville, referee, R. J. Pello’-- at 2.30 p.m.; Waipawa y. Waipuku'rau, referee from Ormondville, at 2.30 p.m. Second Round.—June 3—Polr.tlmra y. Waipukuratu. referee, L. Rathbone, at 2.30 p.m. The football season was opened last Wednesday afternoon, with a fancy costume match, between the members of the Waipawa Football Chub. Those in costume were: H. C. Collett, captain ‘‘Afternoon Tea”; Aif Peliow, “Young Lady”; D. O’Reilly, “Lady of Obt-end” (an excellently ananged costume, hut the veil was placed under instead of over the liat) ; J. Moroney, “American Negress”; ;Nixon, “Housemaid”; Jae. Moroney, “Pink Fairy”; W. Moroney* “One of the Heavenly Twins” (wing©.d) e a very charming costume: R. J. Pel? low, “Miner”; T. Wills, “Uncle J. McLeary “Mariner.” The match was of the “rough and tumble” series. No attempt at scoring was made, but the ball was played up and down the field for half an hour spell, during which period the “lady costumed” suffered depreciation of attire. The spectators thoroughly enjoyed the ludicrous aspect of the game, some of the situations being very mirth-compelling. Immediately after the game was concluded, the footballers disrobed, and in orthodox football equipment played a practice match between teams picked up by H. O. Collett and Alf. Ayres, the only score made in the two spell's being by D. O’Reilly, who potted a goal, but no official score was recorded. Mr R. J. PeiUow was an efficient referee. The attendance of spectators was large, and much interest was shown-
