ARAMOHO

(From Our Own Correspondent.) I have to record this week an event of considerable importance and interest locally—the marriage of Mr W. B. Cave and Miss Mabel Stewart. [A report appears m our ladies’ pages.] The annual meeting for the purpose of hearing the report of the school committee for the past year,-and also electing a new committee for the present year, was held in Aramoho on Mon daw, 25th inst. There was a record attendance, which speaks well for the interest taken in educational matters by the residents. Mr Dickson, the secretary prepared a very full and satisfactory report. Mr S. Vincent, the chairman past and present, deserves the gratitude and tlianks of the community for the unceasing attention he gives to school business. Himself a working man, he never grudges the time necessary to attend to whatever tends to the welfare and comfort of the children and their teachers. It is unfortunate that public-spirited men like Mr Vincent get so little recognition of their self-sacrifice —so mucli is taken for granted. The school children are the happy possessors of a fine piano, which they have purchased, funds being raised by subscriptions and concerts. A cadet corps 7 has been formed, and is captained by Mr Shinper, who takes a great interest in the discipline of his company. Mr Lock, who has been head master for many years, has been most successful as a teacher, and very many young people in good positions to-day owe their success to the care devoted to their education bv Mi* Lock. Miss McCaul, also, is a very successful teacher and very popular with the little ones. We are having glorious autumn weather now.
