ONGA ONGA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Onga Gnga branch of the Farmers’' Union, was held last Saturday in the Town Hall, and was att-ended by the majority of members. Mr McKay occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet, which sbow'ed a satisfactory credit balance, was adopted. The officers, elected for the ensuing year, are —Mr Beamish, chairman and treasurer, Messrs McKay, Petitt, Wilson. McLeod (2), Poult on (2), and Wolstenholme. to act as. the committee. It was decided to appoint Mr Beamish to the provincial coiuneii, and that he be allowed to use bis discretion in all matters ulrjder discussion. -Hearty votes on thanks were accorded to Mr Melvay, retiring chairman, and to Mr Sattnup, the retiring secrerairy, for their efficiency duringterm of office. A tennis match, which was most enjoyable, was played here last Saturday between representatives from the Gaga Onga. and the Hampden Clubs. Each club was represented by eight players, and at the close of some closely contented games, the home chib proved victorious, the scores being: Hampden 508 and. Gnga Onga 576 points. Afternoon tea was dispensed by lady members oi the club- A return match will be played at Hampden next Saturday. April 15th.
