There was a fine day for the 10-cal athletic sports, which were held on Easter Monday. There was a large attendance, and tlie meeting altogether wa,s very successful. All the officers worked well together. Mr Gormley, the energetic secretary t deserves a special word if praise for his efforts. The racing was on the whole good, the fields being large and the finishes close. A protest, entered against A. Maunder, for not sending in full performances-, was dismissed. A committee meeting of the Athletic Club was held last Thursday evening, when all accounts in connection with the recent sports were passed for payment, and a bonus of £3 3s voted to tho secretary. Votes of thanks were passed to the racing club for use of the course, to Mr Lorimer for use of hall, and to those who had assisted in any way. It is anticipated that over and above expenses the club will .clear £lO. The annual meeting of the club will be held on November 25. The following trophies are ■acknowledged with thanks, the same having been given to wie winners of the races mentioned: —-Messrs Rimnier and Craven, marble clock, to winner of points prize-; Messrs J.
