As the day Avore on the Avind increased to the velocity of a fierce gale, and, to make matters Avorse. rain began to fall soon after 3 p.m,. and continued, to do so intermittently until dusk. The committee, however, held on, and the unusual sight Avas seen of the final in the Ladies’ Championship Singles being fought out in rain, with a hurricane blowing. This event resAilted in a well-deserved Avin for Miss PoAvdrell (the present champion) from Miss Van Siaveren. There Avas a. moderate attendance: of spectators in the morning—an attendance that improved considerably in the afternoon.
