AHAURA

The Ahaura dredge is said to be* a complete wreck, having been washed ashore by the recent Hood. Two men were on board! when she, drifted: into an adjoining paddock, their efforts being futile in endeavouring to save her. An old West Coast pioneer, named Mr Devereux, died at .his residences Ahaura, on the night of the 10 th March, having attained! the long age of 82 years. He was buried in the Ahaura ceinererv, and despite the inclemency of' the weather 1 a large number attended the funerai.

Tha old building at the corner of Chiton street, and Napoleon road, generally known ns Nettles Hotel, has undergone a complete transformation at the hands of ©ur enterprising townsman, Mr G. Cressev. -The' promises have been converted into a commodious store, butchery and dwelling-house, and will be a great improvement on his present place of business.
