Amongst- the visitors to Wellington at present are the following, who are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel: — Messrs D. H. Wood, W. Beattie, Win, Rich, London ; Mr R. Latterly Mr Ward lias been attached to the Melbourne “Argus.” As “Banjo” Paterson has just been appointed editor of the “Evening News,” three out of the four Sydney dailies are changing chiefs almost simultaneously Sir Hartley Williams has decided to resign his position as a Judge of the Supreme Court in Victoria, and is to leave for England in April, probably to reside there permanently. He will receive la pension of about £2OOO a year. Miss Von Meyem, an Auckland artist, who has done some excellent work in the painting of Maori studies, intends to send a large number of her pictures to the Tourist Department in Wellington.
