His Excellency gave a private reception to the officers of the Imperial Contingent at Government House on Saturday morning. In the evening he left for Christchurch, intending to drive Overland to Blenheim via Stoneyhurst and Kaikoura. During his stay at Stoneyhurst Lord Ranfurly, who will be accompanied by Captain Alexander, will be the guest of Sir George Clifford. The reason the Governor could take no part in Saturday’s proceedings was that they came within the prescribed period of Court mourning.
