The following figures shoAV the revenue and expenditure on the raihvay working account for the different sections for the four-Aveekly period ending January sth, 1901:—KawakaAva section (8 miles), 3s uu, percentage of revenue expended 120.35; Whangarei (21 miles), revenue £1167 3s 9d, expenditure £423 18s 9d, percentage expended: 47.39; Kaihu (17 miles), revenue £751 2s sd, expenditure £429 9s 4d, percentage expended 50.20; Auckland (330 miles), reA’enue £17,721 5s 2d, expenditure £9792 2s 6d, percentage of revenue expended 69.74; Wel-lington-Napier-NeAv Plymouth (451 miles), revenue £43,459 0s 4d, expenditure £21,365 14s 4d, percentage of revenue expended 73.59 : total North Island (827 miles), reA T enue £63,277 5s 9d, expenditure £32,329 8s sd, percentage of reATenue expended 71.70. HurunuiBluff (1186 miles), revenue £86,648 9s 6d, expenditure £43,209 Is Bd, percentage of revenue expended 63.50; Westland (112 miles), expenditure £3147 16s 2d, percentage of revenue expended 59.62 ; Westport (31 miles), revenue £4449 14s Id, expendi ture £1616 19s, percentage of revenue expended 49.91; Nelson (33 miles), revenue £1156 8s 2d, expenditure £785 14s lid, percentage of revenue expended 120.62; Picton (21 miles), revenue £826 4s 6d, expenditure £670 os 2d, percentage of revenue expended 102.34: total South Island (1383 miles), revenuo £98,288 10s, expenditure £49,434 16s lid, percentage df revenue expended 63.55. \ The revenue per mile was largest on the following sections: Westport, £lBlB 13s 2d: Wellington-Nanier-NeAV Plymouth, £9lO 2s : Huru-nui-Bluff, £773 19s 6d. The heaviest expenditure per mile was £907 13s 4d on the Westport section.
