LAUNDRY NOTES.

When pillow cases and ether articles have become discoloured by being dried indoors in bad weather, soak them for four or five days in a large) pan of clean cold water, turning them about each day. Blue slightly, and finish in the usual way. They will be beautifully white. Wash flat irons occasionally withjvarm water, to every two quarts of which has been added -J- tablespoonful of melted lard. Wipe thoroughly, and set in a warm spot till perfectly dry. When you are ironing any dark material, do not put a linen cloth underneath, as the lint will come off on the stuff, and you will have great difficulty in brushing it off again. I learnt this some years ago from an unfortunate experience, as I very nearly ruined a dress which at that time I could ill afford. Use: a dark cloth, or even a folded newspaper, and you will be spared the annoyance of which I speak.
