NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD.
* RETURNING LEGISLATORS.
SYDNEY, January 26. ■ Among the passenge»§ by the Westralia, which sailed to-day, was the last contingent of New Zealand Parliamentary visitors, consisting of the Hon. J. Carroll. Messrs Graham, A. L. D. Fraser aad Field, M.H.R.’s.
Before the vessel left Sir W. Lyne and the Hon. E. W. O’Sullivan representing
the Commonwealth and State Governments took a farewell of the visitors.
Sir W. J. Lyne, proposing Mr Carroll’s health, thanked New Zealand for the honour conferred by sending representatives to the federal celebrations. He hoped the day was not far distant when New Zealand would go hand in hand with the federation.
Mr Carroll thanked Sir W. Lyne for the unbounded hospitality shown to the visitors. The kindness of the past few weeks had done more to foster a friendly spirit between the Commonwealth and New Zealand than anything else could have accomplished. Mr Fraser also returned thanks.
In proposing the health of the Hud-dart-Parker Company Sir W. J. Lyne said he hoped it would not be long before the company would do its part in bringing the two countries closer together by fast steamers.
