CABLE INTERRUPTION.
-■ • ,• SYDNEY, January 25. The- Eastern; Extension Cable Cornpany’s: steamer Recorder. ,)ias. arrived to effect repairs to the cable between New Zealand and Australia. The fault exists about 400 miles from the New Zea_ land coast.
The vessel will also shift the Australian end of the cable to the new station recently erected at La Perouse. Owing to the interruption of the Singapore cables, some alteration in the vessel’s instructions may take place, as the company’s other repairing steamer, the Sherard Osborne, is at Hongkong. SYDNEY, January 27. . Advices received to-night state that the cable repairing steamer has picked up the Batavia end of the broken cable.
