FIRES.

SERIOUS OUTBREAK AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, January 13. A fire occurred in Customs street this morning, causing the total destruction of several warehouses. The total damage is estimated at about £IOO,OOO. The fire started in Bond and Bell’s warehouse and spread to Owen and Co.’s and L. D. Nathan’s bonded store, all three being completely destroyed, with their contents as well; also Wheeler’s business, in Nathan’s buildings, and Tucker’s baking-powder factory in Owens’ building. The Nathans were insured for £sl. „ ) in the Norwich Union, and estimate their loss at £20,000 above that amount. Owen and Co/s insurance was £2700. and Wheeler’s £IOOO. The insurances are not ascertainable to-day. The firelmen were quickly at work after the outbreak, but were unable to suppress the flames. There was some trouble with water through the bursting of a main, and salt water had te be used. This accident oaused considerable delay. A woman and a bey were injured by a falling telegraph post, the latter seriously.
