SWIMMING.
CHRISTCHURCH, January 11. The New Zealand Swimming Association has selected Malcolm E. Champion to compete in the swimming championships to ba held in Melbourne this month. He is coming down from Wellington to Christchurch to finish his training here. The second championship meeting of the affiliated Caledonian Societies of New Zealand will be held at Napier on Friday, February 22nd. The prize-money amounts to over £3OO. The list- of atli_ letic events, with details of the prizemoney, appears in our advertising columns. There are also four cycling events, three wrestling championships, three pipe music championships, five dancing championships, three military events-, hammer, shot, caber, high jump, long jump, hop, step and 1 jump and quoits championships. Programmes and full particulars can be had op application to Mr Ulic Shannon, “ New Zealand Times” office, Wellington. Entries for all events close on Wednesday, February 6th, with Mr Thomas Parker, hon secretary, P.O. Box 91, Napier, as advertised.
