A CYCLE ROAD RECORD.

Mr W. A. Thompson, of the Wellington Cash Cycling Club, has placed to his credit one of the best road performances yet accomplished in New Zealand, viz.—his ride from Wellington to Napier —breaking the previous record time (J O. Shorland’s) by two hours. Taking into consideration the fact of his being delayed by a puncture, and stopping 15 minutes for a rub down and refreshments, his ride is indeed a meritorious mie. F Hunt, the Kangitikei champion, met. him at Woodvilie and paced him into Napier. Messrs Wilkins ard Field have made both men a handsome present, as their machines were used for the purpose, and Mood the severe strain admirably, Thompson riding a Quadrant and Hunt a Dayton. Time, IShrs 1 min.
