MINING.
Pesth, November 17. A rich discovery of gold in tho Boulder mine, on the main lino of reef, is the latodt mhfting sensation,here. The reef is _ft wide, and was struck in the SOOft level, and is said to be carrying - 370/. to 50oz to the ton. Auckland, November 10. One ton of ore obtained by the Greifc Barrier Gold and Silver Company, when subjected to a chlorodising roast, returned 09oz lGdwt of melted bullion, valued at iH2 15s 9d per ton. As the result of the month's crushing of the Cambria, IS loads of quartz and 201 b of inched stone wero treated and yielded s.'}oz melted gold. Some" very fine stone was exhibit?;! at TauraDga last week from the Urcwera country by the prospectors acting for an Auckland syndicate. The prospectors went in ab W'hakatane, and accompanied by lOmiluent'al Natives, they wentin over 15') miles, till th sy wero turned back by the Government afc the request of another portion of the Urevora Natives. The prospectors brought into Tauranga some splendid stone, one pioeo especially showing gold freely. Mr J. P. Lawson, mining engineer, has arrived from London to take over the supervision of the Waitekauri Consolidated and other properties in the Auckland district. Mr Herbert Woohner, mining engine* r, has arrived in Auckland to superintend tlie development works on the Anchor mine at the Thames, which property was recently floated in London. Mr Woolmer will also act a_ supervisor for three or four Coroinandei properties that have been acquired by English companies. Advices have been received that Mr McConnell, a civil and mining engineer of great experience, was to leave England by the Ophir on the 16th of November. He comes to New Zealand to represent the Now Zealand Finance Corporation Company, a very f-tcong combination, that purposes seeking investments in this Colony.
