THE WOOL SALES.
Christchukch, November 20. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, when about 6000 bales were offered. There was a large attendance of local and Home buyers. The wool was light and clean, and cross-bred and halfbred were well competed for, the bulk selling at 7d to 7id ; superior, 7fd to 8d; and inferior Gd to Gifd. Merino also sold readily at Gd to Gijd, and fellinongers' lots brought relatively good prices. The large proportion of the wool catalogued was disposed of, the lots passed being of superior quality, for which a higher figure was asked. Sn dney, November 20. The Intercolonial wool sales have been marked by keen competition. Prices have been strongly maintained and have undergone little change. Better qualities of greasy merinos show a tendency to further improvement; scoureds maintain their position, and inferior descriptions and crossbreds have a slightly weakening tendency. _______________
