TRAGEDIES IN MELBOURNE.
Melbourne, November 18. Edward McPherson, of MePherson Bros., machinery merchants, has committed suicide by shooting himself. The evidence at the inquest showed that deceased was suffering from depression, and consulted a magnetic healer, who said that McPherson was suffering from congestion of the liver and kidney, and that he found this out by looking into the brain. The Coroner strongly condemned the action of the healer, and said that if McPherson had not consulted him probably he would have been still alive. He would have liked to order the healer to be flogged.
Melbourne, November 19. Quia, who shot his wife dead, and then attempted to commit suicide, is in a precarious condition.
Both were assistants at Ararat Asylum., but their services had baen dispensed ■with.
Mrs Quin's first husband is believed to be alive.
She represented herself as a spinster, but subsequently confessed that she was a married woman.
Quiii was much troubled, and the knowledge of this preyed on the woman's mind. They had no money, and failure to obtain work added to their despondency, so they decided to die together and end their misery.
