A MAORI WELCOME.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —By inserting the following in your next issue I shall feel obliged : —On Monday last the members of the Wellington Boys’ Institute held a picnic at my place at Papawai. I may state I was greatly pleased to see them. On account of being unwell myself I was unable to receive them as I otherwise should. I trust they enjoyed themselves. At any future time I shall be glad to see them at my place, and shall always accord them a hearty welcome. I should be very glad to see a Native Boys’ Institute established in the Wairarapa, and shall endeavour to do so later on. lam fully alive to the benefits to be derived from such institutions, morally and physically. Again, welcome to the boys, and many thanks for your music.—l am, Ac.,

Tamaiiau Mahupuku Papawai, 13th November, 1896.
