TERRACE CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL.

A tea-meeting and public mooting in connection with the anniversary of the Terrace Congregational Church took pi act* on Tuesday. The interior of the church, where the public meeting was held, looked very bright from its tasteful decorations and the groups of happy-looking, welldressed children. Mr Meadowcroft, the Sunday school superintendent, read the report, which stated that the work in the school had gone on satisfactorily during the year. There were now 132 scholars on the books, as against 130 last year, but the average attendance was much better. The young women's Bible class, started by Mrs Glasson in May, 1895, was disbanded at the end of the year, owing to Mrs Glasson not being able to continue. The re-establishment of a young woruon's class and young men's class was suggested. The teachers deplored very much what is felt in many other schools, the drifting away of the elder boys. The officers of the school for the ensuing year are as follows:—Superintendent, Mr F. Meadowcroft; deputy-superin-tendent and treasurer, Mr W. West Knowles; secretary and delegate to the Sunday School Union, Mr W. W. Tanner ; organist, Miss Edmeades; musical conductor, Mr W. J. Lankshear; librarian, Mr Walter Macklinj assistant librarian, Mr David Macklin. During the year the sum of <£lS 8s Id was raised for missionary purposes. The treasurer's statement showed that the school was in debt .£6 9s 9d. Brief addresses were given, and selections performed by the choir and orchestra.
