WELLINGTON OITY RIFLES.

Last Monday the members of the "Wellington City Rifles gavo their annual "social" at Thomas' Hall, and they are to be congratulated upon its success. Nearly 300 pcoplo were present. Among thoso who attended were Major Collins, Captain Duthie, Lieutenant Muir, Lieutenant Hume, Lieutenant McKenzie. Tho decorations of the halt had been most tastefully carried out by members of tho corps, tho many bright-coloured Hags giving it a very pleasing effect. Supper, provided by the members of the corps, was laid out in the largo supper room above. With a capital floor and tho excellent music of Mr Fischer's band, tho members and their friends spent a thoroughly enjoyable night. Corporals Robinson and Halpin and Private Wickens acted as M's.C. Colour-Sergeant Davis was a most energetic secretary of the committee.
