MORE ROBBERIES.
A thief got into the shop of Mr McParland, Taranaki street, yesterday week, and look away a box containing 3011) of tobacco, valued at about .£7 las. The robbery must have evidently taken place some time between midnight, at which hour Mr McParland retired, and 2 a.m., when the bakers camo to work. IMr McParland's son found the door leading to the shop unlocked, and as the door had been locked tho night before, and the key taken out, it is surmised that the lock was turned by means of a skeleton key. Footmarks, apparently those of the burglar, were found on a lean-to attached to the shop.
The baker's shop of Mr Kirkus, in Tory street, was also entered late on Tuesday night or early yesterday morning week, and a quantity of pastry and the till, containing a quantity of loose money, stolen. In this case also a skeleton keyhad been used.
