INCOME OF THE PRINCE OF WALES.

A report is current, and gains credence, in thi! lobby of the House of Commons that the Government will ask tho Houso to increase tho allowance of =£37,C00 yearly granted to the Princo of Wales in behalf of his family. The request wdll bo mado on tho ground of tho heavy cxpenso of tho establishment of tho Duke of York, tho Prince's sou.

The Princo of Wales has settled upon him by law an annuity of .£40,000, and, by an act passed in 1889, receives =£37,000 annually in addition for tho support and maintenance of his children. Ho has also as income the revenues of tho Duchy of Cornwall, which in 1894 yielded him .£57,734. The Princess of Wales has settled upon her tho annual sum of £IO,OOO, which,in the event of her becoming a widow, will be increased to £30,000 annually. Thus the incomes of tho Prince and Princess amount to a total of about £141,734.
