WELLINGTON SUBURBS ELECTORATE.
A largely-attended meeting of electors, for the purpose of forming a Liberal Association, was hold in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Petone, on Monday. Mr W. Austin, who presided, said it was proposed that the Association should embrace the district known as the Wellington Suburbs, with headquarters at Petone, and branches at the different divisions of the electorate.
It was proposed by Mr T. M. Wilford, and seconded by Mr JBailey, and agreed to, “ That a provisional committee bo formed for tho purpose of ascertaining the feeling of tho electors as to the formation of such an Association, and that such committco report to a subsequent meeting as to the probability and likelihood of support.” Twenty-eight of tlioso present were appointed the Provisional Committee.
It was decided that male and female electors bo eligible for membership. It was agreed that suggestions from the members of tho Provisional Committee should bo made at tho next meeting as to tho nomination for tho offices of president and treasurer. It was understood that a committco of 200 will bo formed in the courso of a week. Tho date of tho next meeting is to bo advertised in tho New Zealand Times.
