MINING.

NEW ZEALAND MINING PROPERTIES IN LONDON. Special to tiie New Zealand Mail. London, March 26. The Goldfields of New Zealand_ Syrnlicafe issued the prospectus of the Waitekauri Central Gold .Mine, Limited, on Monday last, and appears to have obtained sufficient capital from the public (and elsewhere) to warrant one using the word ‘ floated ” in connection with tho concern, 'the Central has a nominal capital of .£65,000 in 130,000 shares of 10s.. Of this number 40,000 havo been appropriated to working capital, 47,000 wore offered to the public, and the remainder form part of the payment to the vendors for the ” Two and Two make Four ” licensed holding containing about .14 acres situate in the Waitokauri For this small property the vendors ask .£15,000, but they content themselves with £3500 in hard cash. Tho directors of this Company are Mr George Hardin and MajorGeneral Hutchinson, of the Waitekauri Extended, Mr Charles Bingham, of tho Komata Reefs Company, and Mr J. S. Rutherford, a Goldfields of New Zealand director. Messrs Beaver Bros, aro of course the consulting engineers. To-d»y tho prospectus has been circulated of the Hauraki Associated Gold Reefs, Limited, a promising concern brought to London by Mr W. rf. llampson. The capital is £IOO,OOO in 4s shares, which become paid up on allotment. Twenty-five thousand pounds of the issue of £50,000 is available for working capital. The purchase price is £75,000, of which the vendors insist twothirds shall be paid in shares and give tho

directors tho option of paying the balance in the same way. For this sum tho company obtain a provod gold-bearing proporty of about 63 acres (or at tho rato of £ISOO only per aero) on tho Tokatea Hill. Tho directors of the company are Lord Norreys, Sir C I'. Cunninghame, Mr E. T. Road, Mr Henry Times, Dr Reginald Eager and Norman Tronson—a very fair board indeed. A local committee consisting of Mr Malcolm Niccol and Mr J. H. Porter will keep an eye on the company’s affairs in the Colony. Mr Hauipson, by the way, has eorno near making a record with this property. It is only ten days since ho first placed the papers in the hands of tho syndicate responsible for its public appearance. London, March 21.

Two New Zealand goldmining companies have been floated this week, to wit, tho “ Waihi Consolidated Gold Mines, Limited,” and the “ Waitekauri C''oss Goldmining Company, Limited.” Tho firstnamed is capitalised at £200,000 in £1 shares. Of this amount the vendor takes £70,000 in shares in part payment of tho purchase prico, 50,000 are appropriated to working capital, and 130,000 were offered for public subscription. The properties to bo acquired by the Company aro the 100 acres leases known as the “ Brilliant ” and “ Favona,” which adjoin the “Silverton” and “ Grand Junction” mines. For the properties, Mr .1. W. Walker and his coowners demand £150,000, payable as to £SOOO cash and the rest in shares or cash or both at the option of the directors. Tho price is big, hut from the reports of Messrs James Bark, 11. 11. Adams, J. W. Cornhill and Mr Walker, the Company would seem to ho getting tho property “ dirt cheap.” It is claimed that tho Martha lode traverses the entiro length of the two claims, and that the Silverton No. 2 reef strikes into the Favona block at a right angle to tho Martha. Tho directors of the Company are Major-General Philip D. Henderson, C. 5.1., Colonel A. Le Messuricr, C.1.E., 11. E., Mr Alex. Raesido (a director of the Wailii-Silverton Extended), Mr J. W. Scotland Mr G. A. Withheld. The Company will also havo the services of a local “committee” in the Colony composed of Messrs C. E. l’urchas, J. J. Craig and C. McLean.

Tho Waitekauri Cross, which went to allotment on Wednesday, has a capital of £IOO,OOO in £1 shares. Of these, 35,000 were offered to the public. The properties acquired by the Company aro tho leases Taranaki, Taranaki Extended, Waitekauri North and tho Mikado, making in all about 100 acres. For this the vendors (the New Zealand and General Mining Syndicate) ask £50,000, payable as to £IO,OOO cash and £■lo,ooo in fully paid shares. Shares to the amount of £50,000 have been set aside to provide working capital, of which 25,000 were included in the public issue, tho remainder being held in reserve for future requirements. Tho directorate includes Messrs J. IV. Broomhoad, Alexander Raeside, Daniel King and W. 11. Milstead, tho latter being a director of tho vendors’ syndicate. Tho managing director in the Colony will he Mr Samuel Ilethcrington. BUSINESS ON THE AUCKLAND SIIAREMARKET. A uckland. May 19. The following were the closing quotations
