The liawera Star reports that the train from Now Plymouth to Hawera on Tuesday evening ran into three horses? about a mile from Eltham. Two of the horses got under the engine, and one got fouled with the front wheels and was carried almost to tho centre of the Mangawboro bridge, where the wheels loft the rails just as tho driver managed to pull up. Had the cngino been travelling at any great speed when the wheels left tho rails it must have wrecked the bridge, and tho engine, and perhaps most of the carriages, would have been precipitated into tho river. The horseless carriage idea is coming on well. It is to havo an exhibition at the Crystal Palaco in May, and the other day tho Lord Mayor of London welcomed it at tho Mansion House. Tho exhibition is to be an international one, and it is to embrace everything appertaining to TObielesi and otherwise.
