LAND SETTLEMENT.
Tho Lands and Survey Department arc making preparations to sell 300 acres of Lake Ellosmere reserve lands on tho optional system on Juno 21th. Preparations arc being made by tho Lands and Survey Department for the disposal of the following lands : Five sections in the Cheviot estate, containing 338 acres, adjoining tho McKenzio settlement, to be sold on leaso in perpetuity on Juno 24th ; small grazing run No. 39, containing 1798 acres in the Centre Ifill district, Wallace County, situated two miles from Mossburn Railway Station, to be disposed of on 21 years' lease at Invcrcargill on June 17th. Preparations are being made by the Department of Lands and Survey for putting the following properties in the market: —Throe sections in the town of Opua, to bo sold by auction in Auckland on July Ist: two sections in Otamateacounty, containing 900,000 ft of kaui'i timber, to bo sold by auction on July Ist ; one section in Hokianga county, rough bush land, containing l,0t)0,000ft of kauri timber, to be sold by auction on July Ist; 4800acrc3 of first-class and second-class land in tho Counties of Clifton and Stratford, to be disposed of on the optional system on Juno 24th; 2GOO acres eecond-class land in the survey district of Gore, Sounds County, to be disposed of on the optional system at Blenheim on June 24th.
