WELLINGTON EXHIBITION.

At a meeting of the Musical Committee of the Exhibition last week, the subcommittee appointed to draw up a circular to bo sent to the various musical societies presented a draft of the circular, which was adopted after several slight alterations. The committee appointed to visit Petone and inspect an organ being made by Mr Croft stated that they could not make any definite report on the subject as the organ was not yet completed. So far, however, they were very pleased with the workmanship. The question of making the concert hall of a semi-permanent character was discussed, but it was decided that under the circumstances the committee could not make any recommendation on the subject. Tho secretary was instructed to write to the secretary of the New Zealand Brass Bands Association, asking whether the Association could not see its way to hold their annual contest this year in Wellington in connection with tho Exhibition instead of at Dunedin. It was derided to make a recommendation to the Building Committee that they should arrange for tho stage in the concert hall to accommodate 250 performers. At a meeting of the Exhibition Finance Committee on Thursday afternoon, Mr T. G. Maearthy (chairman) reported that a satisfactory arrangement of matters connected will) finauco had been made, [t was decided that exhibitors will have to make their own connection for machinery by belting or otherwise ; that exhibitors requiring motivo-powcr for outside machinery will have to pay an extra cost to bring tho power to their stands, and that special cases will ho specially dealwith by tho Power Committee. The motivo power usod will probably bo electricity. At a meeting of the Power Committee, it was resolved that powor he supplied at the rate of 3d per horse-power per hour for the machinery hall, and that this charge cover the cost of power and shafting only.
