LAND SETTLEMENT.
The Elsthorpo estate, Hawke’s Bay, which was acquired some months since under tho Lands for Settlement Act, is being surveyed, and will he offered to the public in about two months’ time.
Mr 11. Gordon, Inspecting 'Engineer of the Minos Department, left for the South last week for the purpose of paying his annual visit of inspection to (lie Otago mines. Mr Gordon shortly retires from the Government service to take up a position oi' considerable importance under the Anglo-Continental Hold Syndicate. Limited, of which Mr Park, late of the Thames School of Mines, will be consulting engineer.
