ADVANCES TO SETTLERS ACT.
The subjoined return shows the number of applications for loans under the Advances to Settlers Act and the amount'-) authorised in the various provincial districts up to 31st March last.
The total number of applications was 179!), and the total amount authorised was <£539,497. The Government have decided to place at the disposal of the Advances to Settlers Board tlk services of the dairy instructors and otlior\6overnment officials. Board that, with a view to expedite its business, applications for loans should be sent into the Superintendent Valuers, and that upon receipt of these, the local valuers should inspect the properties, and the applications with their reports will than bo submitted to the Board.
