A WOMAN MURDERED.

Sydney, April 27

A married woman named Love, residing at Newtown, a suburb of Sydney, has been found brutally murdered, her head being battered with an axe.

She has led an unhappy married life. Her husband is missing. At tho inquest on the body of tho woman Love, the evidence disclosed the fact that she had been shot through the head prior to being struck by the axe.

This afternoon the husband was discovered hiding in a disused chimney of brickwork', a short distanco from tho scene of t ho murder. He was covered with blood, and bad a bullet wound behind the ear. A loaded revolver was found in his pocket, and he stated that ho had attempted suicide. Although he is weak from loss of blood and want of food his condition is not considered dangerous.
