PETTY THEFTS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —l bog through the medium of your columns to call the attention of tho polico to the necessity of occasionally—say, onco a year or so—sending somo member of the forco along Hill street. This locality seems to havo become a favourite haunt of snoak-thioves in the early morning hours. I myself tako a morning paper—when I can get it—baton several occasions lately my paper has been stolen. Somo hob-nailed individual, as his tracks denote, is not content with keeping himself versed in tho news of tho day at other peoplo’s expense, but lias evidently started a business in door mats. 1 do not know if tho aforesaid hob-nailod ono may bo classed as vermin and shot on sight, but if these depredations aro allowed to continue, house holders will bo obliged to take somo measures to protoct their property.—l am, Ac., Resident. Wellington, April 22nd.
