CURIOUS CONDUCT OF THE UNITED PRESS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sat,—When will respectable journalism place its pedal extremity upon the peculiarities of the Press Association ? Tho reason of this comment is not of to-day—-it numbers many flights of swallows but tho last eccentricity of a supposed purveyor of impartial news has forced me to write. Reading a local publication called tho Post, and issued last Saturday, I observed a paragraph from a correspondent, who was vouched to be reliable, touching upon the Horowheuua Block Commission. Apart from this having been written by a much interested party, there is no fault to find, but when the Press Association is retained by Sir Walter Bailor to disseminate an ex -parte story of a matter that is sub judice, then surely your management should not be silent. Of course, those who are acquainted with the gilded Knight know of his transparent vanity on all occasions, but this last exhibition of Holloway Pills style of adve tisoment can dub the author as nothing less than the embodiment of plebeian bad taste. I am informed that tho Press Association lias an agent at Levin. If his reports are satisfactory for other parties, surely it is evident that if Sir Walter Duller finds it necessary to act as a special correspondent to a paper he wishes to take an unfair advantage. Therefore, again I ask, when will the political tactics of the Press Association cease ? I'am, Ac., Zuffolo. * Wellington, April 1-Uli.
