THE HOROWHENUA COMMISSION.

Levin, April 1(3. The Commissioners returned from Wanganui last evening, having taken tho evidence of Judge Ward, of the Nativo Land Court, and resumed their session at Levin this morning. Mr Baldwin addressed them in support of the lineal descendants of To Wlmtanui, and Mr Morison speaking on bel alf of tho collateral descendants of that chief. Both parties arc claimants to Block I), and the case regarding the claims to that block has now closed. The lists of names of persons proposed to be admitted in Block (> then came on for discussion. Tho Commission adjourned at 5 pan. till Tuesday morning to give an opportunity to tho parties to come to friendly arrangements. Levin, April 21.

On the Horowhcmia Commission resuming its sitting to-day, Sir Walter Duller put in an agreement as to the names of tho persons to he admitted into qho various blocks, which had been drawn up during the adjournment by the various tmrties. ft was’ signed by Sir Walter j 5 nil or ns solicitor lor the Muaupoko, Mr John Stevens as agent for Warena Huuia, and Mr Alex. McDonald for certain of tho • Muaupoko not otherwise represented. Sir ! Walter Duller then gave evidence, and his j cross-examination was completed in tho j afternoon, when Air John Broughton was | examined. The evidence is now complete, J except as to the lists of persons to he j admitted into the various trust blocks, and j the addresses of counsel have commenced.
