Dunedin, April 21. The Standing Committee of tho Anglican Diocesan Synod has resolved to cordially concur in the proposition of Bishop Neville to appoint Canon Robinson, late of Queensland, as assistant-Bishop. Bishop Neville celebrates the silver jubilee of his episcopate on 4th June. The directors of tho Mosgiol Woollen Company declare an interim dividend at the rate of 8 percent, per annum. In Chambers to-day, leave was given by Mr Justice Williams to tho Receiver of the Oamaru Harbour Board to accept the surrender of runs.
Auckland, April 21
The Auckland police force has been reinforced by five men and other five are expected. Twenty applications have been received to join tho local force. Nnr,sox, April 21.
At the Horticultural Society’s show today, Mr Cooper, of Wellington, judged the chrysanthemums, of which the display was very fine. Mrs Merrick won tho Challenge Cup. There was also a magnificent display of apples, Westport, April 21. At the Harbour Board meeting this afternoon, Captain M. Furneaux, of the steamer Kennedy, was appointed assistant harbourmaster. There wero seven applicants for the position. The Magisterial enquiry into the stranding of tho barque Coromandel will open tomorrow morning.
