A CHINAMAN HITS OUT WITH AN AXE.
Sydney, April 21. The China steamer Tsinan news of a tragedy on t he high seas. Tho officers of tho American schooner Lyman D. Foster, which arrived at Shanghai, reported that on 2.1 th February the Chinese cook attacked Captain Dreyer with an axo.
The mate went to his chief’s assistance, and was badly wounded in several places on the head. The cool; then drew a revolver, and shot the captain twice in the breast, lie next attacked a sailor with the axe, and severely ( wounded him. Eventually the man took- refuge in the ' galley, which he soaked with kerosene and , set. >m lire. Tho captain died oil the following day.
