A Coromandel miner, says the Thames Star, is the lucky winner of the first prize of <£lsoo in Tattersall's Consultation on the Summer Cup, recently run at Randwick, having drawn Mahee. The man's name is TEverard, employed in the Princess May mine, at the Manaia. Everard'arrived in the district about three months ago in a state of impecuniosity', and out of his first earnings he invested £l, with the above result. It is intended, writes our Masterton correspondent, to hold a race meeting at Castle Point about the end of February or the beginning of March.
