At the usual weekly meeting of the ! Women’s Social and Political League on Monday, Mrs Moore in the chair, arrangements were made for the next open meeting at Nowtown to be held next Friday. Papers will be read by members of the League. Six members were elected, and several nominations received. The following resolution was proposed by Mrs Weiss, seconded by Mrs M.tCdonald, and agreed to :—“ That the Women’s Social and Political League join unanimously with the request of the Hospital Trustees that Dr Ewart will reconsider before finally resigning his very valuable services as superintendent of the Hospital.” The following arc the latest additions to the list of telephone subscribers : —Wyatt, Inge and Gould, grocers, Lambton quay; Edward Reeves, private residence, Ansen street ; George Bodloy, Lambton quay ; B. Cohen, wine and spirit merchant ; Hon. J. G. Ward, private room, Molesworth street ; C. W. Tringham, solicitor, Lambton quay ; G. Fisher, private residence, Hill street; W. Letham, private residence, Sydney street. The Kiwitea County Council has accepted the following tenders : —Widening, cloaring slips and erecting bridge on Calvert’s road, C. MeColl, £157. Forming and culverting 101 chains heavy siding on Calvert’s road, Behrent and Strawbridge, £44 15s.
