Kapua, Norton and Mutiny led the field at first,' but all the horses kept pretty close together until the field rapidly thinned as various obstacles were encountered. At last only the placed horses and Dromedary were left. Up to the sod wall before the last hurdle, Tiritea had a good loading position, but he came down, leaving Norton a couple of lengths in front of Booties and Bombardier. The race appeared all over from this point, and Norton, taking the double in fine style, was brought along over the gorse in the straight, winning from Bombardier by two lengths ; Booties a fair third, and Dromedary a bad last.
