POLITICS IN NEW SOUTH WALES.

THE TARIFF. SIR HENRY PARKES TO BE ASKED TO RESIGN. Sydney, May 20. It is stated that the Colonial Treasurer will allow his tariff schedule to be altered in committee, and that the retention or reduction of any duty may be moved, but not its increase. It is probable therefore that as finally passed the tariff will contain more concessions regarding Protection than at present. At a meeting of Sir Henry Parkes’ constituents it was resolved to ask him to resign, on the ground that he had betrayed the electors.

A public meeting is being called to consider the question.
