AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB; Auckland, May 13. The Auckland 'Trotting Club’s Autumn M'e'etihg was concluded on Saturday, about 1800 peoplegbeing present. The Stewards’ Handicap Trot, two miles and a quarter, was won by Ingai’, 60sec; Three Cheers, scr, running second, and Morning Star, 54<sec, third. Dividend, <£3 9s. Kit won the Maiden Pony Handicap, paying .£1 14s. The Steeplechase, about two miles and a half, was won by Butterfly, Fauntleroy second, and Little Raven third. Dividend, <£l Is. Little Ben won the Second Harness Trot, the dividend being 15s. The April Handicap was won by Kit, who paid <£3o 12s, and the Class Handicap by Hurricane, who paid ,£2 Bs. All totalisator tickets were 10s each. The starting was very unsatisfactory. When Minnie won the Maiden Trot, paying =£3s 15s for a ten shilling ticket, there was considerable excitement over an allegation that another ticket was rung on after the race. Two had been taken inside and two outside, and the fifth ticket could not be accounted for. The proprietor found only four were sold, and accordingly only four were paid. There was another scene later on owing to a number of false starts in the Stewards’ Handicap, and much disorder ensued.

The stewards of the Auckland Trotting Club met to consider a letter from Mr George Mcßride complaining of the conduct of the starter in regard to his horses at last Saturday’s races. He stated that in the Easter Handicap his horse Duke C. was on the 36sec mark, 16sec behind the limit horse, but was not permitted to start till 25sec behind the limit horse, and that in the Harness Trot the limit horse was 4<Bsec, but ■ Three Cheers, the scratch horse, was started 38sec after the limit horse. After some discussion it was resolved that the accusations made by Mr Mcßride against the starter, Mr Caulton, had been entirely disproved, and that on account of these statements being so completely disproved Mr Mcßride be disqualified during the pleasure of the stewards. AucKLAND.May 14.

Mr Mcßride states that he has instructed his solicitor to take proceedings against the Auckland Trotting Club for defamation of character. He also claims first money in the Easter Handicap, as it is alleged Edwards, the owner of Three Cheers, has been disqualified for one month by the Canterbury Metropolitan Trotting Association. The totalisator dispute in the Maiden Trot is to be enquired into.
