PAHAUTANUI.
Pahatjtanui, May 9. The annual meeting of the Pahautanui Library subscribers was held on Saturday night, Mr A. Mclntosh (president) in the chair. The report ancl balance-sheet showed a flourishing financial position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : —President, Miss Dowdeswell; secretary and librarian, Mr Walter Leslie ; treasurer, Mr F. Death; committee, Mrs Walter Leslie, Messrs A. Mclntosh, jun., Pearce and Robertson.
A meeting was held on Saturday night, having for its object the institution. of a local lawn tennis club. Mr Walter Leslie having put before the meeting the outlines of a proposal to lay down an asphalt court, bout 20 of those present enrolled as members, and the meeting adjourned for a week to arrange details. A wedding took place on Tuesday last when Mr J. Nicol, fourth son of Mr A. Nicol, of Pahautanui and Hcrokiwi Valley,
was married to Miss Emma Iggulden!■ second daughter of Mr Iggulden of Pahats- i tanui. About 50 guests were entertained ! at a sumptuous and tastefully displayed : breakfast by the parents of the bride and bridegroom, and an enjoyable dance was j given in the hall in the evening.
